We hope you have had a great time during the holidays. Many thanks to those of you who completed our feedback form on our group and our events, it’s really helpful for us to improve in the future. If any of you had not had the chance to do so yet but would still like to, the form is still live and can be accessed via this link.
We are making this post because we have decided to try to enter the annual competition for ‘fetish association of the year’ in the X-Awards of the Darklands festival.
For those of you not familiar with the event, Darklands is one of the largest annual fetish events in Europe, taking place in Antwertp, Belgium, some time within the first few months of each year. (This year is quite important actually, not only because it marks the 15th anniversary of the event but because it is the last time this event will run in that venue, maybe even in that city/country. Details have yet to be announced on this news)
The X-Awards is a contest that runs as part of the very rich programme of the three-day event, where people nominate and, then, vote for individuals and/or groups for a number of categories (Fetish Association of the Year, Bar of the Year, Fetish Film of the Year, etc.). The ceremony where the winner of each category is announced takes place on the Sunday of the event
We believe that even entering the short list for people to vote for will be a huge achievement for our group. Most importantly, it will add further visibility to our community, as there are many people, in Greece and abroad, who are interested in all this stuff but do not even know we exist.
You would be doing us a great favour if you would consider nominating us for The X-Awards shortlist! The form only takes 3-5 mins and your name does not appear in public. The more nominations we receive, the most likely we are to be included in the short list.
Some facts for which we have decided to try being included in the contest this year:
the group organised the 2nd Thessaloniki Leather Weekend and the 2nd Athens Leather event
we secured a presence in EuroPride in Thessaloniki in June of the year
we participated for the first time in the World Fetish Show Contest and succeeded in being in the short list of 10 countries that will participate in the live Final show in Darklands on Friday night
we have started regular, monthly leather socials at Big Bar Athens.
Greece has one of the most underdeveloped fetish scenes in Europe and the group is swimming against the tide while trying to change the culture. More visibility of the group will help a lot for this.
